Internet ‘Kill Switch’ Approved By Senate Homeland Security Committee

The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs has approved acybersecurity bill, Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act (PCNAA), that would give the president far-reaching authority over the Internet in the case of emergency.

As The Hill explains, the bill, sponsored by Sens. Joe Lieberman, Susan Collins, and Tom Carper, would give the president “emergency authority to shut down private sector or government networks in the event of a cyber attack capable of causing massive damage or loss of life.” The original bill granted the president the authority to “indefinitely” shut down networks, but an amendment to the PCNAA, approved yesterday, mandates that the president “get Congressional approval after controlling a network for 120 days.”

The authority granted to the government in the bill has been likened to an Internet “kill switch.”

Collins noted that she takes issue with the “kill switch” term. The Hill writes,

“It’s been frustrating to read some of the misrepresentations of our bill in the cybersphere,” Collins said, arguing the new bill actually circumscribes the president’s existing authority and puts controls on its use. “I believe the substitute amendment we’re offering strengthens those protections even more.”

As we wrote here, the bill would also see the creation of a new agency within the Department of Homeland Security, the National Center for Cybersecurity and Communications (NCCC). Any private company reliant on “the Internet, the telephone system, or any other component of the U.S. ‘information infrastructure’” would be “subject to command” by the NCCC, and some would be required to engage in “information sharing” with the agency, says CBS4.

The bill will soon head to the Senate for a vote.

Where Can I Find Good Help These Days?

Are you kidding me 3 assistants in 3 months. Yes, it’s true. And you all thought it was easy to send an email. Ha! Ok a 30 year old college student who was going to college to learn marketing couldn’t do it. He had panic attacks if he had more than 2 things to do in his inbox. Maybe that’s why he was still in college at 30. Oops did I say that? Sorry.

A 23 year old also in college. If you have ever been to mailchimp it’s so easy. There are your campaigns in there right, they block for your customers list is about an inch by 2.5. It has your customers list name there. This marketing student somehow put another template for another business in another’s campaign. That is darn near impossible to do. He worked for another marketing agency at one time hmmmm they closed I guess that should have told me something. I am blond leave me alone already with your thoughts over there. He told me on the day of firing “it only happened once”. Once is to much in this business. You cannot cross customers lists.

A 43 year old woman going to school for IT this one was the clincher, couldn’t get down mailchimp in 18 hours. She was able to figure out how to put a template together for 2 clients in 18 hours are you kidding me here? Remember she was going to school for IT here is the definition in Wikpedia Information technology (IT), as defined by the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), is “the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware.”[1] IT deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit, and securely retrieve information. If you haven’t been to mailchimp you all should check it out video tutorials pretty simple stuff, she couldn’t handle it. I say good luck with school. Oh forgot the best part. She knew that there were the 2 before her in 2 months sooo she tells me on last day, that maybe it was me. She says so you ever heard the expression it’s not me it’s you. Yup she was leading to it was me why people couldn’t figure out a program that pretty much anyone could under 5 hours. But she is the IT girl so I guess she knows.

So before this madness my last assistant was here a year. She was awesome 21 in college for psychology. She figured out anything and everything under 30 minutes. It was unreal. She only finally left me because she got a paid internship for psychology.

So as of Monday I hired my landscaper, that’s right my landscaper. I think I figured out the magic recipe. He went to the college my great assistant went to and smokes, like her. The other 3 didn’t smoke and apparently went to really bad schools. That’s all I can come up with. He was at the assistants desk for 1 hour and got out 2 emails. Incredible and HAS NEVER used an auto responder before. That’s what the previous 3 kept telling me “I have never done this before.” Over and over and over again.

So Gina what is the moral of this story you say. I have no idea. Except that….. maybe..
1)mailchimp is easy
2)Find an assistant that smokes
3)If they can’t figure out how to send an email in 6 hours FIRE THEM.

I don’t know.  This is not that hard folks, I promise. You can do it and if not TRY LIKE HELL
TO FIND SOMEONE WHO CAN under a week of course.

Hi, Gina here, I know you haven’t heard from me in a while, I’ve been a bit busy. Pretty plain out and simple I’ve been really, really busy lately. Two weeks ago we had two big deadlines to come up with, but they are out of the way. I told myself I wasn’t doing anymore websites and I picked up like one or two more this week.

I’m going to shoot myself, but that’s ok. I was just sitting on the couch at home, my husband and I just got back from dinner, and I was sitting on the couch and I just started to get hot, like really hot just thinking about my day, what happened to me today, the work that I did, the work that I tried to do, and even some of the emails and private messages I got in the forum today. I was just getting madder and madder and madder and I said to my Husband “I’m going to write it out, what happened to me today and then I said no, I’m going to do a video because this is just too much to write.”

Guys, two people today wrote me that they were going to go get a job or go back to their job or whatever, and I was almost thoroughly disgusted. I’m like “are you kidding me?” You’re going to go back to a job that you hate? Or go find a job because you lost your job and you’ve kind of been dabbling in this and you’re thinking about doing this but you’re not quite sure if you can do it. Ridiculous that’s all I have to say, you two, and it’s not even just you two it’s the rest of you, just absolutely absurd and ridiculous.

The amount of knowledge that not only do I give you, but that you get from so many other people in this Forum, the Warrior Forum or wherever to do this. I mean, grow a set, and seriously grow a set. I’m a woman as you can tell and I must have a set. I’m kind of shy, my self esteem is right about here, but I don’t care. You have to try. There is no better job in the world than working for yourself and going out and getting a check having somebody pay you to do work that’s going to bring them a lot of money. And, I’m going to get into this in a minute. Your mind is just going to be doing a 360 when you hear what I have to say, what actually happened to me today. So, anyway, if you can’t do this just give up. Seriously, give up. Don’t do this, it really is difficult. Go back to wherever you were working before. Because this is so simple that seriously, if you put your mind to it, and that’s all you really have to do is put your mind to it, you can go do this. You can go help businesses owners.

Confidence I understand, somebody new trying to do this but, like I said, if you read through the forums there are enough people out there telling you it works, it can happen, get off of your butt. I’m going to say a totally disgusting word right now, but a person with hemorrhoids can go do this. Alright, seriously, hemorrhoids or not, go do this job.
